LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari will soon give up his political position, said the government’s counsel, Waseem Sajjad, on Wednesday during the contempt of court proceedings against President Asif Ali Zardari in the dual-office case.
The Lahore High Court bench, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard the case today.
During his arguments, Sajjad said that Zardari was not the head of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP). “The party named in the case is headed by Makhdoom Amin Faheem,” he explained.
He assured that the president’s house will not be used for PPP political activities, adding that Zardari never did so earlier.
Sajjad also submitted his written reply to the court.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till February 15.

This is another master stroke by the most sophisticated politician in the history of Pakistan With the new election . Pakistan will be a freee civilised state not ruled by Army and establishment ? What the court have done so for is to loose their own integrity. Obviously the courts are abusing the laws to subjugate zardari but have failed

@ Lalai - I think politicians are worse - atleast you know what to expect of a dictator... Zardari is quick to clarify that he is not the head of the party - that role is played by Makdhoom Amin Fahim, but there was no reference to him being the co-chair of the party. The legal action was against Zardari being the co-chair not the head/president, looks like there is no reference made to that here. In politics, what is said is something and what needs to be "read between the lines" is something completely different.

Are we saying that a person can wear two hats in such an important position as President of a country? . I think not.
That is the beauty of a politician. Always compromise when stuck in an impasse. A dictator might have removed/maligned the judges in the first instance.
