WHO workers will directly coordinate with deputy commissioners in their respective districts, said a press release.
The Home and Tribal Affairs Department has issued instructions to the provincial police officer, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners, asking them to ensure security. Deputy commissioners have been asked to treat this matter as top priority.
Union councils in each district where there is no security risk will be identified. The WHO plans to conduct a post-polio campaign survey and identify children who were not vaccinated in the immunisation drive.
The WHO had suspended their operations across the province after nine polio workers were killed in December last year and ordered their staff to abandon their immunisation activities.

For many years I have advocated that the organisation responsible for vaccinating should liaise with the chief of the villages concerned. The chief should help map out the families where they live and this will help when re-vaccinatng because you'll find those who have moved from the area but were vaccinated last time and help find new villagers who have never been vaccinated. Constant monitoring by the village chief of who moves out of his area and who moves in will help prevent duplication and help notify who has recently moved in and should be given vaccinations. Global travel has become too easy for people to move around and carry the poliovirus with them.
