Ending exploitation: Wapda employees to stage sit-in

The employees of Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) will stage sit-ins in front of their offices across the country on Thursday to press for more “employee-freindly policies”.


Pakistan WAPDA Employees Paigham Union (CBA) President Sirajuddin Saqib, said that a 138-point charter of demands had already been presented to the Managing Director of Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO).

He said the demands included upgradation of the posts of linesmen, steno-graphers and others, introduction of a promotion policy which ensures promotion of employees after every five years, payment of two Eid bonuses per annum and special bonus to non-Muslim employees.

CBA Zonal Chairman Sabir Ali Shah and Syed Ashfaq Hussain Sherazi said that their protest would continue till acceptance of demands.
