Section 3 protects the acts, proceedings or decisions taken by PTA in case of the existence of a vacancy.

The law ministry has clarified that the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is the only one who can exercise powers related to the administration and staff of the PTA.

In a statement issued to the Cabinet Secretariat on Monday, it said:

“A member of PTA can only exercise such power if he has been appointed Chairman of the Authority by the federal government” under section 3 of the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organisation) Act.

Section 3 protects the acts, proceedings or decisions taken by PTA in case of the existence of a vacancy or a defect in the constitution of the Authority.

“However, the said provision does not override the powers given to the
PTA chairman,” the statement read.
