SUKKUR: After losing Rs10,000 in gambling, Mumtaz Shar of Sadiq Shar village, Ghotki, put his daughter, Khursheedan Shar, on the line and lost her too.

He had agreed to the terms dictated by the winners, which required him to marry his daughter to 12-year-old Hashim Allah Wasayo Shar, when the girl’s mother, Meena Shar, intervened.

She escaped with her daughter to her mother’s home at the first opportunity.

The residents informed the SSP about the incident and Meena registered cases with the Khoenjo police against five men, including Mumtaz Shar and Allah Wasayo.
