MANSEHRA:

Measles claimed the life of a minor boy in Mahandri union council, health officials said on Saturday.

Omar Zeb, a resident of Dhano Mahandri village, said his son Waqas was taken to Balakot Hospital where doctors diagnosed the boy with measles and prescribed medicines. The boy, however, could not recover from the disease and passed away on Friday night.

Locals and health officials said over a dozen children from Balakot and adjoining areas have been hospitalised for measles.

An official at the district health office, however, said it was yet to be ascertained if the boy died of measles or some other cause. He admitted to the outbreak of measles and said teams have been sent to administer vaccines to the children.
