MQM to go it alone in next polls: Sattar

Farooq Sattar says MQM will contest next elections independently on their manifesto, may give in to seat adjustment.

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Convener Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar on Saturday said that his party would contest upcoming general elections independently.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said the MQM always contested the elections independently with its own manifesto. However, he said that the party could move to seat adjustment with the like-minded parties.

Sattar said the MQM is in alliance with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)on the basis of five points including fighting terrorism, strengthening the democracy, economic stability in the country, to make reconciliation policy successful and to stabilise the country. "We played our role as a responsible political party to achieve these targets."

The minister for overseas Pakistanis said that local problems including peace in Karachi could be resolved with local government system adding that the MQM always supported the LG system in the country.

Replying to a question, he said that the banned outfits including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were responsible for destabilising peace in Karachi. He said target killings of political leaders and on religious differences is in fact a conspiracy to destabilise Pakistan and its economy.

JUI-F‚ MQM discuss political situation

Jamiat Ulema Islam- Fazal group (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and MQM chief Altaf Hussain discussed the political situation in the country on the phone.

A statement says they talked about governance in Balochistan, democracy and peace, law and order situation in various parts of the country.

@Muhammad Rizwan Ali: karachi, sindh????? where are u living mr? karachi is the part and capital of the sindh.

no doubt mqm gets vote from karachi, but don't make the divisions, it portrays the wrong perception to the people. sindh is united and will be remain united till the day of judgment. thank u.
