
Addressing participants of an event held to commemorate martyred policemen at the Peshawar Press Club, Malik said the police were fully determined to ensure the safety of the province.
“The BDS and anti-terrorist squads have been put on high alert to foil any potential attacks from militants across the province’s 25 districts.”
The AIG lauded his unit for defusing bombs and explosive devices planted at sensitive sites and residential places. “We have imported the latest technology and robotic systems for defusing explosive materials. Members of BDS have been fully trained to tackle all situations,” maintained Malik.
The chief minister’s advisor on local government, Haroon Bilour also praised the police for their sacrifices. “We can sleep comfortably as policemen stand guard in our cities and towns,” said Bilour.
A charity trust will be established to look after the widows and children of slain policemen and free education and health facilities will be provided to affected families, he added.
Bilour urged all political forces to come together and form a decisive counterterrorism strategy.
