President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday inaugurated two projects to be undertaken by National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), Guzara (subsistence) Allowance and Sindh Arms Licence Revalidation.
Addressing the inauguration of Benazir Muawanat (support) Card at the Presidency, the president said the project would help improve the lives of the deserving and needy.
Under the programme, Nadra in collaboration with the provincial Zakat and Ushr Department would enroll the Zakat beneficiaries and issue the cards to provide Guzara Allowance. It is aimed at supporting families living below the poverty line and distributing Rs3,000 to each beneficiary every six months.
“Disbursement of Guzara Allowance through Benazir Muawanat Card will eliminate ghost beneficiaries and bring efficiency in the management of funds,” said the president.
“We realize that the end goal of running a transparent government is the delivery of services to the people and that the citizens are able to work in an economy that will afford them food, shelter, education and employment,” he said and added, “Today, by facilitating Guzara Allowance, we are one step closer to that goal.”
The president said that technology is playing a central role in economic growth. The methods and techniques used in Guzara Allowance address several dimensions of problems in social inequities and economic inefficiencies. “I am delighted that the zakat initiative took less than a year from the concept level to actual delivery,” said Zardari.
Zakat is the 2.5% obligatory charity that every Muslim must pay on savings, profits and assets.
Ensuring gun control
A signing ceremony of agreement of Sindh Arms Licences Revalidation and Computerisation between Sindh government and Nadra took place at the occasion. The president said that the initiative primarily aims at ensuring serious gun control.

no issue either 3,000 or 10,000, its not good for our nation, govt's should to build the industries in different districts, people should not depandent they must be indpandent, work at industry and earn for own families!!
if ppp wants to do something than provide them employement instead of making them dependant on the schemes or aids or something like this
It's a week expense of a labor's family ......... another electioneering tactic .... nothing else
Good governance is about creating an environment and developing an infrastructure and policies so that a common man can become self sufficient and fend for himself rather than destroying everything and taking back everything from him at first stage and when people are dying from hunger you start distributing such miser amounts to people registered with your vote bank and start announcing to the world to show your generosity. This government has done nothing except TAKE BACK roti, kapra, makaan, bijli, gas, pani, airline, railway, daulat & sakoon from the people of Pakistan. Absolutely disgusting performance and if it continues then be prepared for the worst. This is only another political point scoring stunt like benazir income support programme
His wealth is around 2b$ that belongs to the people of pakistan
How it will be funded?. By taking more debts for the future generations?. Look at Zimbabwe in the past their politicians did the same and now it took more than 100 trillion Zimbabwean dollar to be equivalent to 5 Dollars and it took millions of Zimbabwean dollars to buy one bread. I have studied enough of economics and believe me we are heading towards hyperinflation and our future generations will suffer because of these politicians who are spending money like kings. Even European countries like Greece have suffered recently because of heavy debt and how a developing nation like Pakistan will ever succeed with this decision.?
Rs3,000/- in every six month........ means Rs500/- in one month............
