
The bodies of eight mine workers, who died of suffocation because of a gas leak at Duki coal mine in Loralai, Balochistan, were buried in their hometown in Shangla district on Monday evening.
The deceased were identified as Bakth Zaman, Muneer Khan, Shakirullah, Hazrat Ali, Turab, Hukamran, Khan Zamin and Samiullah. They were laid to rest in Chagum area of Puran tehsil.
A large number of residents attended the funeral as relatives and friends wept over the loss of their loved ones.
One of the victim’s brother, Mairaj said his sibling was the only breadwinner for his family and leaves behind a widow and four children. He appealed to the government to provide monetary compensation to the bereaved.
MPA Fazlullah Khan and PML-N’s Senior Vice President Amir Muqam told journalists the death of the miners had turned the entire tehsil into a place of mourning and demanded the government to take action against the culprits.
