Polio campaign: 800 policemen to guard polio teams

The district government has decided to depute 800 policemen to guard 800 polio teams going to administer polio drops to children under five years of age in the district.



District Coordination Officer Syed Najam Ahmed Shah announced this at a meeting on Tuesday. He directed the district police to ensure the safety of polio teams. He warned of action against officials showing negligence. He directed the district administration to engage prayer leaders and social organisations to make the polio campaign a success.

Civil Lines Superintendent of Police Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said a policeman each would accompany a two-member polio team. He said the deputy superintendents of police would supervise the operation and station house officers would patrol the areas along with the Elite Force.

MPA Shazia Ashfaque Mattu also attended the meeting.
