Quaid Trophy: Adnan’s ton salvages draw for Ravi

KARACHI: Snubbed for the South Africa series, Adnan Akmal hit an unbeaten century to help Lahore Ravi secure a draw against group I leaders Karachi Blues in the sixth round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in Lahore.

The wicket-keeper displayed gallant batting to score 108 off 229 deliveries, laced with 14 fours boundaries, saving his side from defeat.

Aided with Adnan’s century, Ravi who resumed at the overnight score of 95 for 2 requiring another 125 runs to avoid an innings defeat, posted 305 in their second innings to set a target of 86 runs for Blues in 10 overs.

With little time left, the group leaders rushed for the win, but could only reach 69 runs for the loss of five as the game ended in a draw.

Elsewhere, the match between Sialkot and Quetta also ended in a draw with Mohammad Ayub stealing the final day’s show with an undefeated 94.

Sialkot made 262 runs in their second innings, setting a target of 233 runs for their opponents. In reply, Quetta managed to score 193 for three at the close of play.

Meanwhile, hosts Peshawar, who were bowled out for 103 in the first innings, set a challenging target of 364 for Islamabad on the third day of their fixture at Arbab Niaz Stadium.

Israrullah chipped in with 155 to steer Peshawar to 439 in the second innings. Chasing the target, Islamabad were on 52 without loss at stumps.

Hyderabad records win
in group II


Hyderabad registered an 87-run win over Faisalabad on the final day of the group II fixture.

Nauman Ali was the star with a four-wicket haul as Hyderabad bowled out Faisalabad for 122 after posting a target of 210 runs.

Meanwhile, the fixtures between Bahawalpur and Karachi Whites in Multan and Rawalpindi and Abbottabad in Sawabi ended in draws.
