RAWALPINDI: Shops on Kurri and Sadiqabad roads remained shut on Sunday following a robbery attempt that killed a shopkeeper. The shopkeepers observed a complete strike on multiple calls from the local trader unions to press the government for an early arrest of the suspects in the incident. The funeral of Sohail Ahmed --- the 35-year-old shopkeeper who was killed in the incident --- was attended by a large number of local residents, including MNA Hanif Abbasi and MPA Raja Hanif. Ahmed, who owned a wholesale grocery shop, had been shot in the abdomen two times and died on the way to hospital. He was married with three children. The two others injured in the incident --- employees at the shop --- were discharged from the hospital after being treated for bruises and minor injuries. The new SHO, Malik Allah Yar, was hopeful that they have enough information to get to the suspects. He hoped they would have made substantial progress in the next 24 hours.
