Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Likeminded Humayun Akhtar Khan responded to allegations that he was a defaulter on account of travelling and daily allowances during the period between 2004 and 2005, saying that the money was drawn for official purposes and all matters were settled.

The Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday requested the government to send notices in this regard to Akhtar, the then commerce minister.

“The PAC chairman, before making the matter public and trying to malign me, should have asked the ministry of commerce and TDAP to reconcile their records,” said Akhtar in a press release issued on Thursday.

Regarding mobile phone charges, the likeminded leader said, “It is a valid charge on EMDF as the usage was to promote and enhance Pakistan’s trade profile.”

He went on to say that the PAC chairman should focus on “the billions that have been squandered under our noses for the last five years rather than pointing fingers, prematurely and without evidence.”
