Weekly strike: Bar demands creation of LHC bench

The Sargodha Bar Association has been observing a strike every Thursday since 2011 in Sargodha, Joharabad and Shahpur.

SARGODHA: The District Bar Association on Thursday observed a strike to press the demand for creating a bench of the Lahore High Court based at Sargodha. A meeting chaired by Bar President Tayyab Sherazi passed a resolution in line with the association’s demand. Later, members marched in a rally, led by Shirazi. Addressing the protesters, Shirazi said that a bench of the Lahore High Court in Sargodha should be recognised as a “basic right” of the people. The Sargodha Bar Association has been observing a strike every Thursday since 2011 in Sargodha, Joharabad and Shahpur.
