Karachi killings: PML-N official, father gunned down

A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz official was gunned down, along with his father, in the Defence locality of Karachi late Wednesday morning.


PML-N Sindh Joint Secretary Mian Taimur and his father, Mian Arbab, were shot in Khayaban-e-Jami, DHA, police confirmed. They were rushed to the Liaquat National Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Clifton division SSP Nasir Aftab said Taimur and his father were on their way home in their double cabin when armed men targeted them. He added that they were shot at point blank range.

PML-N leader Saleem Zia, who was on his way to the hospital when contacted, confirmed that Taimur was his party’s joint secretary in Sindh.

Fourteen people were killed in Karachi on Tuesday.

A former medical superintendent of Sindh Government Hospital, a police official and a suspect named in a high profile murder were prominent among the targeted.

Arif Rajjar, 34, the prime suspect of the Defence dance party shootout, that had claimed the life of grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti in 2011, was shot dead in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area within the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station.

DSP Nasir Lodhi while talking to The Express Tribune said that business rivalries and vendetta of dance party would also be considered in the investigation.

Hassan Alam, former MS of Sindh Government Hospital, New Karachi, was on his way home from his private clinic when two armed motorcycle riders sprayed bullets on his Jeep.

Sub Inspector Alamgir was shot dead near Nagan Chowrangi, North Karachi. Alamgir was the SHO of the Super Market police station when Karachi operation was going on against a particular political party in the mid 1990s. SP Salman Hussain said that deceased was recently posted to CID.

The-party-that-must-not-be-named will bring revolution according to the likes of Hassan Nisar. I wish Karachites were pro-Pakistan, and believed in unity..
