QUETTA: Political and religious parties on Sunday held demonstrations and rallies across Balochistan against the imposition of governor’s rule in the province.
While addressing a rally in the provincial capital, leaders of Jamiat Uelma-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Balochistan National Party (Awami) strongly criticised Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its leadership for imposing governor’s rule. They accused ‘officials in uniform’ of involvement in what they called a conspiracy against the provincial government.
Though they condemned the deadly blasts at Alamdar Road, they also censured the government for using terrorist attacks as a pretext to rob the mandate of millions of people. They deemed governor’s rule as “unconstitutional and unjust”.
They also demanded the immediate lifting of governor’s rule and restoration of the democratic government in the province. Coalition parties in Balochistan have announced that they would carry out strikes on January 25 and February 1 to press for the withdrawal of governor’s rule.
