The Women Business Development Center (WBDC) organised a one-day workshop on the ‘Art of Artificial Flowers through Stocking Technique’ for female entrepreneurs at the WBDC Display Hall on Saturday.
Zarmina Tajik, an expert in color conception from Peshawar, led the training session attended by more than 50 household women and students.
Participants were trained in various skills, including ribbon work, color concept, dough flowers, glass painting, net flowers, fabric painting and block printing among others.
The WBDC is working under the umbrella of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) and has trained 400 women from Peshawar, DI Khan and Swat in the last two years.
The women that have already been trained displayed their work by setting up stalls featuring jewelry, clothing, handbags, decoration pieces and bed sheets.
“The project is based on the concept of sustainable development,” said Smeda’s provincial head Javed Iqbal Khattak. Women are trained to become successful entrepreneurs and are also facilitated in starting their own businesses, he added.
Project Manager Nabeela Farman said this is the first program of its sort in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa which provides women the opportunity to showcase their skills in the market. She added these workshops will help women learn business management skills and become self-employed.
