Security threats: ‘Militants could enter Dir’

The officials requested the locals to cooperate with the forces and police to thwart any mishap.

A meeting of elders, police and army officials was held in Warhi tehsil, Upper Dir, to discuss security threats on Saturday.


Malik Faiz Muhamamd Khan, a tribal elder said jirga members were told that security forces had received information that militants could enter the area and specifically target the Maliks as well as carry out terrorist attacks.

The officials requested the locals to cooperate with the forces and police to thwart any mishap.

Malik added that the official told the elders that security forces would heighten security at entry and exit points of the district while the district police officer offered to provide security to tribal elders and an increase in police patrols.
