A young couple was killed while their daughter was severely injured when a mortar shell from an unknown direction landed on their house in Shalobar area of the troubled Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Friday.
Javaid Afridi, an official of the political administration, said that the shell hit the house of Muhammad Khan in Sur Kas area killing him his wife. Their three years old daughter was critically injured.
After the incident, residents rushed towards the mud house which was demolished by the shell and pulled out the couple however, they were dead while their daughter was rushed to a hospital in Peshawar.
Most of the residents in Sholabar have left their houses and shifted to Jalozai Camp while others have gone to Peshawar and its outskirts due to the ongoing military operation in the troubled tehsil.
According to sources, Laskhar-e-Islam is carrying out unprovoked mortar fire on security forces in Shalobar, inflicting civilian casualties.
