Young doctors at the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) in Rawalpindi on Friday boycotted outpatient departments and examined patients outside in camps.
They did this as a token of protest against what they call the Punjab government’s continued victimisation of young doctors, especially in Gujranwala where a number of doctors were arrested.
Young Doctors Association (YDA) Rawalpindi Chapter President Dr Umer Saeed they have joined the protest announced by other YDA chapters in the province on January 16.
Such camps will also be set up at the Holy Family Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital on Saturday (today), he said. “We will continue serving patients in camps until our demands are met,” he added.
The doctors are demanding the registration of cases against people who roughed up a YDA delegation, and revocation of terminations and transfer orders for various doctors.
