Meeting challenges: Irrigation system to be refined and developed

Efficient use of water and energy is vital for the development of agricultural sector of country, says PARC Chairman

Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmad has said that various irrigation and watershed management technologies have been developed and tested to meet future challenges in food safety and security in the country.


Addressing a seminar on rehabilitation and irrigation improvement, jointly organised by PARC, the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), he said that efficient use of water and energy was vital for the development of the agricultural sector of the country.

Dr Otto Gonzalez from the USDA, ICARDA Country Representative Dr A Majid, agricultural experts and private sector enterprises were among the participants in the seminar.
