ISLAMABAD:
The recent spell of light rains will have a positive impact on Rabi crops, including wheat, barley, mustard, lentils, grams and fruits and vegetables cultivated over large areas of the country. Pakistan Agriculture Research Council Member Crops Sciences Dr Shahid Masood told the APP here on Thursday that the sowing of wheat was passing through the booting stage and required a shower in this state. The recent rains proved a blessing for the crop, he said. There was a sufficient gap between the first rainfall of the season and the recent spell of rains, which are likely to continue till Friday evening, he added. He added that the rains were also beneficial for the crop sowed late, which was in the ‘five-leaves’ stage or the pre-booting stage and required water for further nourishment.
