Saarc trade: Chamber calls for easier visa regimes
India and Pakistan must enter a suitable trade regime, says Malik.

LAHORE:
The Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Saarc CCI), an apex body of commerce chambers in the region, on Wednesday demanded the revival of the visa on arrival facility in India, for what it says will boost socioeconomic prosperity in South Asian countries. Saarc CCI’s Vice President of the Pakistan chapter Iftikhar Ali Malik said that free movement of businesspersons in the region is crucial for the promotion of economic cooperation in South Asia, and that an India-Pakistan agreement on a flexible visa policy will allow multiple-entry on a reciprocal basis. He said that India and Pakistan – two most powerful members of the Saarc region – must enter a suitable trade regime. He said the two nations could take full benefits of regional power to eliminate poverty and bring self-reliance and prosperity to the region like other trading blocs in the world.
