Parties united: The people will decide country’s future says Governor

“We will not allow anyone to hijack the upcoming general elections,” says Mehmood.

LAHORE: Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood has appealed to the people of Pakistan to support democracy and the Constitution and praised the response of political parties to the challenge of “undemocratic forces”.

Mehmood said that all the major parties were “united in the belief that they will not let any undemocratic or external force hamper the democratic system”. He added: “We will not allow anyone to hijack the upcoming general elections.”

He said that “undemocratic elements ... should realise that Pakistan’s empowered population of 180 million will decide their country’s future by the power of their votes.”
