The Lahore High Court on Wednesday gave the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) more time to file a report on its attempts to arrest Asim Malik, the chief executive officer of visa consultancy firm Future Concern, who is accused of fraud.
Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi directed the investigation officer to file the report by January 21. On Wednesday, Deputy Attorney General Abdul Hayee Gilani submitted that the report had been completed, but could not be signed by the FIA director general because of the circumstances in Islamabad. He asked for more time to submit the report.
At the last hearing, the FIA had told the court that it had approached Interpol for help.
The judge is holding proceedings on more than a hundred petitions against Malik by people claiming that they had paid his firm for visas, but never received them nor refunds of their payments.
