Qadir blasts team management

Former chief selector Abdul Qadir has criticised the team management and blamed them for failures in the ongoing ODIs.

KARACHI: Former chief selector Abdul Qadir has criticised the team management and blamed them for the failures during the ongoing One-Day International (ODI) series against England.

Pakistan are trailing 2-0 in the five-match series with the third match on September 17.

“I don’t think it is the players who should be blamed for the performance,” said Qadir. “It is the team management who has completely failed the side.

“There is no strategy and one can see how many blunders the team management is making there.”

Qadir, a former leg-spinner, also said that the tall fast-bowler Mohammad Irfan needed some time before he could play international cricket.

“He is not yet ready for international cricket and he needs to learn a few more things. He may prove himself in the coming years but right now he is not ready.”

The former Test player also pointed out that Tanvir Ahmed was a better choice. “I don’t know why they haven’t fielded pacer Tanvir Ahmed. He was quite impressive in the last domestic season and took around 90 wickets.

The management instead chose Irfan who took only around 40 so it is difficult to understand what they really want to do,” said Qadir.
