Quaid Trophy: Asad’s double takes Quetta to massive win

Peshawar thrashed by innings and 171 runs in Quaid Trophy.

KARACHI: Building on a double century by Ali Asad, Quetta bowlers took advantage of their massive score to bowl out hosts Peshawar winning their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match on day three by an innings and 171 runs.

Peshawar resumed the day on 70 for four while replying to Quetta’s 483 and were bowled out for 117 as Gohair Faiz claimed five wickets. Forced to follow-on, Peshawar were all out for 195 as this time Arun Lal got five wickets. Quetta took nine points from the match to bag their first points of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Majid Jahangir’s unbeaten 112 propelled Sialkot to a 10-wicket victory against Islamabad on day four at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Faisal Khan contributed an unbeaten 68 to help Sialkot earn nine points.



In another match, Multan’s Ikhlaq Butt scored 105 to deny Lahore Ravi a victory as his team ended their innings with 219 for five to draw the match.

In Group-II, Umar Waheed made an unbeaten 99 to give Rawalpindi a nervy two-wicket win against Faisalabad. Needing 61 runs with five wickets in hand, Rawalpindi went on to make 225 for eight. Waqas Maqsood of Faisalabad took six wickets for 93 runs.

Rizwan scores century in each innings

Middle-order batsman Rizwan Ahmed scored his second century to earn a draw for Hyderabad.

Hyderabad made 277 for six as Rizwan made 104 off 158 balls to follow up his first innings’ score of 105. Meanwhile, Whites’ Atif Maqbool dismissed three batsmen.

The match between Abottabad and Lahore Shalimar also ended without a result.
