The soldier was killed at a position called Kundi during firing from the Indian side that began at 10 pm local time, army said in a statement.
He was the fifth soldier reported killed in Kashmir in recent weeks but politicians on both sides have said the skirmishes should not derail a bilateral peace process.
Last week, India killed at least three Pakistani soldiers with retaliatory firing from Pakistan troops killing two Indian soldiers in between.

It is very bad when you behead a soldier. A soldier is always proud of his country. A soldier of any country should be treated respectfully even at war and with a norm. Because both side is fighting for their homeland. You can kill the soldier but do not misbehave with their dead body. Here Pakistani soldier has done wrong and instead Pakistan Army acknowledging their mistake they are misguiding the nation. So Indians have right to respond. I am Pakistani and not Indian by the way and no one has right to declare me Gaddar. I salute all those on both side who died in the line of their duty. Commenting here is just foolish thing. It is not right to behead any soldier and keep it with you. Whoever comments here without knowing both side stories are not doing good thing. I bet Pakistan can not afford war with India can engage Pakistan for longer period and Pakistan has a weak economy.

Sorry. The onus to control terror emanating from its soil is on Pakistan. If Indians are killed especially beheaded brutally in this case or 26/11 then India has a right to react. It is upto Pakistan to wind down the terror camps, so that its soil is not used as a base for terrorism in other countries.

This is grotesque. The way border skirmishes have become a fodder for egotistical nationalists on both side. 65 years of independence and not a tad bit evolution amongst us. Beheading of Indian soldier was brutal and barbaric. But the way Indian media and public reacted was even more proposterous.They automatically assumed that orders came directly from Gen. Kayani's office. In order to calm the chicken hawks in media, Indian army had to kill one of Pakistan's. And now Dr Manmohan SIngh himself is saying "business as usual is not possible with Pakistan". When is Indo-Pak relation going to go beyond these constant one-manship?
It's time to withdraw our troops from tribal areas, make peace with insurgents so that together we can fight our real enemy.

@Ali, The picture is of Indian soldiers. How do I know ? The fence is 100 Mt inside LoC on the Indian side , so Pakistani army cannot come close to it because that would be then crossing the LoC and Indian artillery will take care of it.
Tactically, India would like to see Pakistan ruled by religious fanatics, extremists and fundamentalists . They will work from inside and teach Pakistan a good lesson on using religion as a political ideology.

As an Indian I offer condolences. The stupidest thing that Indians and Pakistanis do is to transfer the pain of individual events into general hatred of 180 million Pakistanis or 1200 million Indians. This is a SYSTEMIC problem. The solution is: Pakistan needs to ensure no militants groups cross the LoC, and then both India and Pakistan can gradually demilitarize. If we are going to hate each other over this, why right now? 1 month ago, when India-Pakistan relations were improving fast, were all these troops not there on the border? Were there not ceasefire violations on both sides? What is the huge change right now that should start fires of hatred? The LoC is the same as it was before.
Both Indian and Pakistani nationalism/patriotism should be about strengthening and growing a secular, peaceful, multicultural state and society, with a welfare safety net and opportunities for entrepreneurs and creative people to realize their dreams. I know Pakistan is not going to become a secular state anytime soon, but at least we can agree on the other bits: peace and prosperity. At times like this, many Indians and Pakistanis believe earnestly wish that we could change geography. I understand why; India and Pakistan have two completely different national identities and values today. Pakistan is an Islamic state; India is a secular state. Pakistani nationalism/patriotism is religion-based; Indians reject that. No meeting ground. But we can at least be civilized neighbors.
