Elaborate security arrangements have been made for Rabiul Awwal 12, officials said on Tuesday.

According to the security plan, the prescribed routes of processions on the day would be thoroughly inspected. Close circuits cameras are going to be installed and there will be aerial surveillance.

All the entry points of the routes of the processions would be sealed and barricaded.

Walk-through gates will be installed at all entry points, said the Rawalpindi City District Government.

Policemen, Elite Force, Special Branch officials, Muhafiz Force, motorcycle squads,  bomb disposal squads, policewoman and personnel of other concerned departments would guard the processions.

Members of the peace committee, Anjuman-e-Tajran and volunteers of the procession committee will also be deployed.

Even though cars would be allowed to enter the procession after diligent security checking, vehicles carrying music parties or musical instruments of the Qawals will not be allowed to join the procession.

The parking of the participant’s vehicles is going to be established at a reasonable distance from the actual route of the procession, officials said.

The arrangements were discussed in a meeting headed by Rawalpindi District Coordination Officer Saqib Zafar. Prominent religious leaders also attended the meeting.

The religious leaders assured of their cooperation with the district government and other law enforcement agencies.
