Monitoring: Trackers installed on 26 police vans

DPO Khan says all police vehicles on patrol duty in the district will now be monitored through Google location.

MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Tracking devices have been installed in 26 police mobile cars and have been connected to the district police officer’s computer, DPO Amir Taimur Khan said on Tuesday. He said all police vehicles on patrol duty in the district will now be monitored through Google location. He was talking to reporters at his office. He said the system had been installed at a cost of Rs400,000. The DPO said that last month, a mobile police team was fined Rs150,000 for hiding facts during a patrol. The tracking system, the DPO said, would reduce such incidents. He said prior to this, there was no way to thoroughly check police vans or monitor their movement. Most incompetent policemen would hide facts to save themselves from punishment. He said several police teams had been fined for reporting wrong location. “This will not happen any longer.”
