LAHORE: The Environment Protection Department of the city district government on Monday sealed the waste recycling unit of Tariq Hospital in Wasa Colony, Badami Bagh.Official sources said the unit had been operating without a no-objection certificate from the Environment Protection Department, a requirement under the Punjab Environment Protection Act, and was a source of air and noise pollution. The residents had submitted a complaint against the waste recycling unit. The EPD recently came under scrutiny after its officials were accused of taking bribes to look the other way while recycling units in the city recycled plastic waste from hospitals and clinics, a potential source of disease.
