The activism of Chaudhry brothers to develop contacts with Dr Tahirul Qadri in a bid to stop him from holding the long march has raised suspicion among the PML-N leaders.
“Tahirul Qadri demanded dissolution of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after holding meeting with Chaudhrys,” said PML-N senior leader Khawaja Asif.
Asif alleged that the Chaudhrys want to a new ECP for manipulating the upcoming general elections.
“The Chaudhry brothers have realised that the polls could not be rigged in the presence of the existing impartial ECP,” he said.
PML-Q leaders including Intikhab Khan Chamkani and provincial media coordinator Salim Shah Hoti have flayed the Nawaz League for baseless allegations. In a joint statement, they refuted the contention as if PML leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi were in league with Dr Qadri on the long march.
They said that the PML leadership was holding dialogue with Qadri for the sake of democracy and betterment of the country.
Meanwhile, the Awami National Party said that organising a protest and long march is Dr Qadri’s right but his demands were beyond the reach of the government.
Regarding Qadri, ANP Information Central Secretary Zahid Khan said that making such illogical demands in a situation when the country was passing through a score of challenges meant pushing the country towards anarchy.
