Short circuit: Two injured in factory fire

The factory owner estimated the losses at Rs1 million.

GUJRANWALA: Two workers were injured in a fire at a washing machine factory on Sunday.

They were taken to a hospital, where they were reported to be out of danger. Machinery worth millions of rupees was damaged. Rescue officials said the fire at a factory in Kangiwala started due to an electric short circuit.

Two workers, trapped in a store, were pulled out after an hour and taken to Civil Hospital, where doctors treating them said they would likely survive.

They were identified as Riaz and Zahid. The fire was put out in three hours. The factory owner estimated the losses at Rs1 million.
