Establishing diplomatic ties: Pakistan recognises Kosovo

The president said that the government has decided to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kosovo.

President Asif Ali Zardari has deputed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan as his Special Envoy to proceed to Pristina and personally convey to President Ms Atifete Jahjaga the decision of the Government of Pakistan to recognize the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.

According to a press release, the president said that the government has decided to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kosovo.

The Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Turkey would be concurrently accredited as Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Kosovo, the president said.
