In solidarity: Journalists protest against Quetta blasts

Union leaders termed Thursday’s attacks “cowardly,” and criticised government for failing to control law order.

Dozens of journalists belonging to the print and electronic media held a demonstration at the Clock Tower roundabout on Friday, to protest against the bomb blasts in Quetta that killed over 100 people on Thursday.


The deceased include Samaa TV’s reporter Saifur Rehman Baloch and cameraman Imran Sheikh.

Many journalists have lost their lives while doing their jobs, but not a single culprit has been arrested, which speaks volumes about the government’s ineptitude, said the union officials., shouted slogans against the government and militants.

The union leaders termed Thursday’s terrorist attacks “cowardly,” and criticised the government for having failed to control the law order situation in the country. They demanded that authorities arrest the culprits who were behind the bomb blasts, and also asked the government to provide protection to journalists. Several political parties have also condemned the attacks in Quetta.
