According to initial details, rockets were fired, setting Nato containers on fire.
Many were reported to be injured in the incident.
Police encircled the area in order to apprehend the miscreants.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.
Earlier, a blast was heard on Saryab Road, Quetta.
According to initial details, the blast took place near Quetta Development Authority (QDA) office.
The nature of the blast is not known as yet.
The blast comes a day after a string of bombings on January 10 that left at least 93 people dead and over 150 wounded in one of the bloodiest days of violence that Balochistan has seen for years.
It was the deadliest day in Quetta since a suicide bomber blew himself up at a 2010 mourning procession, killing around 50 people.
