'No military operation required in Balochistan'

PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said that no military operation is required in Balochistan.

Talking to the media during his visit to a relief camp in Charsadda, he said the situation in the province will get worse in case of an operation.

He also dismissed the possibilities of a military coup and said that the government as well as the institutions should play their role to save the country.

He said the government is facing corruption scandals and that's why people don’t trust it.

The PML-N chief also urged the government to fulfil their promise by giving twenty thousand rupees to each of the flood affected families.

sultan | 14 years ago | Reply If not military operation then at least all terrorists in Baluchistan should be dealt with very very strictly as they are working against our country they are all Indian, Mossad and CIA sponsored people. Go for the referendum in Baluchistan and you will see majority of the people are against these terrorists. It is all Sardar's interests they(terrorists) are trying to protect & safeguard. The same Sardars who put their livestock in the school buildings in order to deprive the people from getting any education. Government should generously give employment to all Baluch youths to bring them in national main stream, ensure education on scholarship and deal most strictly with the insurgents to bring peace in the province.

Mariam | 14 years ago | Reply Improve the law and order situation of the province, why do you need military operation? It will be an addition to the Military Operations against Balochistan, hence another reason for the Baloch separatists to cry on and win sympathies of people around the world.

watchdog from UK | 14 years ago | Reply It is ironical that a man of Rehman Malik’s stature has been given the role of Interior Minister. Most of the time he waffles. Wherever he goes he sparks controversy. He is ready to wield stick as far as Balochistan is concerned but when he arrives in Karachi he spends his time to placate his favourites who, beyond any doubt, are involved in target killings. Isnt that a form of terrorism. He is impediment to the peace of Karachi because he uses his official clout to let the thugs go home scot free. By definition he belongs to PPP but by all standards he is MQM man. My advice to Rahman Malik would be to leave PPP and let the rule of law take its course and stop as acting MQM sector incharge of Presidency in Islamabad

Syed A. Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply Military operation is not a solution to tackle the present political situation in Balochistan. The most important issue is how to save the future of young Balochis and to break the shackles of Sardari system which kept Baloch generations backward during the last 64 years. A young Baloch should be free to think, act and choose his or her career. It is also equally important to bring the Baloch girls to educate them so that they should work shoulder to shoulder with the Baloch boys. The first and the foremost thing is to educate the young children so that when they grew up they should have the vision, as short-sighted Baloch Sardars have kept the young children away from the bright future.
