JAMPUR: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani says Rs100,000 will be given to those people whose homes have been damaged in recent floods.

Addressing a public gathering in Jampur, the prime minister said the government will not leave flood victims alone in this difficult time.

He said the army and the National Disaster Management Authority are working together in the disaster-hit areas as per the government directives.

Also, the government has restored supply of electricity and gas while roads are being repaired.

On the occasion, Gilani appealed to the international community for help.

Earlier, the prime minister had ordered an inquiry on the breaching of embankments by politicians to save their own fields during the floods.

Talking to media during his visit to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Eid, the prime minister assured the people that these allegations would be investigated.

Flood victims in many areas of Punjab and Sindh had complained that influential politicians and landlords breached multiple embankments to save their own fields.

I suggest that, the breach that was made in Tori Bund should be asked of by the ministers, as i inquired the locals in Shahdadkot and they mentioned the names of two of the ministers present there who breached the tori bund that caused a huge disaster and destroyed over 3000 villages and 12-14 cities.
