KARACHI: A resident of Korangi has taken the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) managing director and others to court for illegally disconnecting the connection to a water hydrant. Shaukat Hussain rented out plot no. 529 in Noorani Basti, Korangi No. 1, in March 2012. This plot already had a water hydrant with a temporary connection of three inches, he said, adding that he applied for an extension to four inches and paid the required fee in May, 2012. The officers deliberately delayed processing the application because they wanted bribe, he alleged. After he filed the petition in court, the KWSB officials illegally disconnected the installed connection, he said. The Sindh High Court division bench, headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, appointed its Nazir as commissioner on Wednesday to inspect the land, take photographs and submit a report on January 15.
