The chairperson of United Private Schools Association and owner of Lal Qila Montessori House, Grammar School and College, Engineer Syed Ali Haider, 48, was shot dead in North Karachi area on Wednesday morning.
Sir Syed police SP Salman Hussain told The Express Tribune that at least two men on a motorcycle shot and killed him as he was driving his white Cultus home after dropping his wife at school. He was shot thrice and died on the spot, he added. Haider was laid to rest in Wadi-e-Hussain graveyard on Super Highway.
According to SP Hussain, Haider may have been targeted because he belonged to the Shia sect. The police have registered a case against unidentified men.
All private schools in the city will remain closed on Friday to protest the killing. At least four associations, which represent most of the private schools in the city, have decided to suspend all academic activities on Friday. They have also asked school owners and administrators to gather and condemn the killing. Quran Khawani will also be held for the deceased.

And the killing of shias for the sole "crime" of being shias continues...
@MH: you didn't get my point. It was sarcasm, I am with you brother. @sobia pervez you sound idealistic. Idealism doesn't work in real world.
Please the only thing that I request is the person who died was just not a shea or a sunni he was a Muslim and because of that our brother, this tragedy should not be paid importance to as the death of a shea or a sunni but as a human being. This should be the only reason to mourn his death bracketing him as the person belonging to any particular sect would create more disharmony amongst the people as it is a lot of blood shed is going on..
Thanks, Sobia Pervaiz
@Hairaan, exactly.
CJP is the only authority that can take suo moto judicial notice of an injustice. The PM cannot. He takes notice of two bottles of liquor, a slap and killing of a feudal allegedly by another feudal, but not of the Shia Genocide.
@Hairaan: He is CJ only on paper, practically he is trying to be PM (actually more than that).
And the shia genocide continues in Pakistan
@Faraz: Why shouldn't he mention that he was killed because he belonged to a certain sect. Its a reality dude. Shia genocide is quite open and noticeable now to every1
@Voice of D.I.Khan: He is CJP not PM of the country. Have some sense.
CJ is too much busy in Shahzaib's Case ,, He doesn't have time to look into petty matters like SHIA GENOCIDE , POLIO WORKERS KILLING , SECURITY PERSONNEL KILLING....!!!!
Waiting for apologists and conspiracy theorists to comment "please don't mention Shia in the report, several people die in the city, nobody mentions if they happen to be Sunni, you are trying to make this a sectarian issue". Pakistanis clearly living in denial.
