Hazardous work: One killed, 5 injured in factory boiler blast

Factory owner Raja Riaz announces compensation for deceased, injured.

Thikriwala police says that the boiler exploded due to pressure causing the roof to cave in.

A factory worker was killed and five others were injured on Tuesday when a boiler at a win board factory on Jhang Road exploded.


The injured were taken to Allied Hospital, where they were reported to be in critical condition. Thikriwala police said the boiler exploded due to pressure causing the roof to cave in.


Six workers were trapped underneath the rubble. Rescue 1122 teams were called and the debris was removed. The injured workers were taken to the hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Imran, 30.

The injured were identified as Ahsan, 22, Ameen, 32, Adil, 35, Babar, 30, and Zafar Abbas, 30.

Factory owner Raja Riaz, opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, visited the injured at the hospital. He announced compensation for the injured and the family of the deceased. He said the blast was an accident and expressed his condolence with the family of the deceased.

Police said they had not registered a case against the factory owner.
