Unrelenting attack: Two drone strikes kill 8 people in N Waziristan

At least five people were killed and four injured in one attack, and three others were killed in the second attack.

The drone fired 8 missiles.

MIRANSHAH:
A US operated armed drones fired missiles in Mir Ali and Essukhel area of North Waziristan in two sorties early on Tuesday morning killing at least eight people, Express News reported.

According to Express News, the CIA-operated drones first fired at least eight missiles at a compound in Haiderkhel area of Miranshah  killing five people. Four people were also injured in the attack.

Locals are sifting through the rubble to recover the bodies of the dead and rescue the injured.


In a second attack in as many hours, drone attacks killed at least three people.

On Saturday, US drones had fired a volley of missiles at militant hideouts in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, killing at least 12 Taliban fighters near the Afghan border, security officials said.

The missile attack took place in Babar Ghar village in South Waziristan, a tribal district bordering Afghanistan which is a stronghold of Taliban and al Qaeda-linked militants.

Earlier in January, a drone strike had reportedly killed militant commander Mullah Nazir.
