Quetta violence: Ethnic motive feared in shooting

Sources in the police say unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on the victim.

QUETTA: In what could be an incident of ethnic violence, unidentified assailants shot dead a man from Punjab on Monday at the Fatima Jinnah road area in Quetta. Sources in the police said that unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on the victim indentified as Abdul Qadir, who died on his way to the hospital. “The victim received multiple injuries and was rushed to the Provincial Civil Hospital but he succumbed to his wounds on the way,” a police official said, adding that Qadir was Punjabi.  The body of the deceased has been handed over to his family after completion of legal formalities. The police have registered a case and investigation is under way.
