Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Fazl said that the best forum to talk to the Taliban is through a local jirga.
The government should find a political solution to terrorism by holding serious talks with the Taliban, Fazl advised.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had also welcomed Taliban’s offer to dialogue and had requested the government to seriously consider it as well.
Last year in December, TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud said in a video message that his group was willing to negotiate with the Pakistani government. However, he attached certain preconditions to the peace talks, including an end to Pakistan’s alliance with the United States and rewriting of the country’s constitution “according to Islamic Shariah”.
The Pakistan Peoples Party-led government has already rejected the conditional offer by the TTP, insisting that dialogue could only be held under the ambit of the country’s constitution.

"Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Fazl said that the best forum to talk to the Taliban is through a local jirga". I hope the jirga is not like the jirga of the 'Kohistan video scandal' whose orders resulted in killing of eight innocent people on the mere issue of clapping and singing of children in a wedding ceremony. Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Imran Khan should talk to the Taliban on behalf of the government as mediators. This will probably make it easy for all the parties involved.
If Fazl and Imran like Shariah so much, why don't they move to KSA? We don't want shariah. We want democracy. Why can't people of FATA and PATA exercise their right to vote? Its working in Chitral. Isn't it? All jirga, maliks, and Talibans should be considered void. People in Mirali and Miramshah should be able to enjoy same rights as people in Lahore. Islamabad and Karachi do.
Its the fear of life coming out of Maulana's mouth. He can fool millions of Pakistanis but difficult to fool few from his clan.
Being part of MMA govt for 4 years during Gen M govt...they looked the other way when TTP was being organized right under their nose...& today blames the last govt & present govt & proposes to talk to them. The govt tried to talk to them on 4 occasion, every time TTP backed out with one excuse or another....this time let Moulana Fazl lead the talk ?
@Zab: your opinion is well endorsed. Shunting out of religious fanatics from state affairs is the only solution. When it will be understood by the stakeholders of the this country God knows better. Any way he has no chance even he favours talks with TTP. In the past all such attempts already have failed. Biggest problem is every one takes the name of Islam but in fact aims the guns to capture Islamabad.
If only he had expressed the same promptness condemning suicide bombing, murdering TTP extremists. Maulvi Sahib is part of the problem, not eligible to give advise.
Talks is the only way we can get ourselves out of this Taliban scum thing, otherwise they will keep targeting us..Let's just put an end to all this and do something for our country..
He is part of the problem, his ideology and sermons and the seminaries being run under their trade mark have bred the these Taliban for the past two decades or so.
