Pakistan Railway clinched the first women’s Challenge Cup hockey tournament title after defeating tournament favourites Wapda 2-0 at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore yesterday.



Railways’ Hina Kanwal was the star, hitting a brace to help her team win the title. The first-half ended without a goal, and the deadlock was broken by Kanwal early in the second-half. She scored the second goal on a penalty corner to seal victory.

Meanwhile, Punjab overcame Army with the same score line to secure bronze medal. Army went 1 – 0 down after an own goal, and Sehrish Ghuman doubled the score line to confirm Army’s place on the podium.
