Wapda clinched the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Trophy after defeating Punjab 2-0 in the final of the Pakistan Premier League in Islamabad yesterday.


Wapda opened the tie with a win as Pakistan number one Aqeel Khan defeated Heera Ashiq 6-2, 6-4 in the first singles match. In the second match, Yasir Khan outplayed Khurran Nazir 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 to seal victory for Wapda. The winners received Rs40,000 as prize-money for the tournament. Meanwhile, Islamabad defeated Higher Education Commission 2-0 to win the bronze medal. Ahmed Chaudhry defeated Usman Ejaz 6-2, 6-4 while Haseeb Yaqoob overcame Saad Mubarik 6-2, 7-6 to ensure third place for Islamabad.
