LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has said that the country will now only be ruled by the “chosen representatives” who have been put into power through elections, Express News reported on Saturday.

Speaking at the annual celebrations of the district bar association at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal in Lahore on Saturday, Chief Justice Chaudhry said that due to change, democracy came in Pakistan.

The CJP said that now, only those who are elected into power will rule the country.

“The country will be ruled by the chosen representatives, that is those who come in through elections.”

“Governance will be based on the principle of democracy, freedom, equality, tolerance and social justice,” he added.

I wonder when this change in the CJ's thought process occurred and what triggered it. He had validated illegal seizure of power in 1999 by Pervez Musharraf.

Looks like all the stakeholders are converging on one point of democracy. Let us elect the best possible from what we have rather than going with the losers who have no chance except to come via backdoor.
