Altaf was issued a contempt of court notice by the Supreme Court in December for a "contemptuous and threatening" telephonic address earlier.
Barrister Mohammad Farogh Naseem and Qazi Khalid filed the petition on behalf of the party.
Their stance was based on the deteriorating security situation in the country. They gave reference to Benazir Bhutto, who was targeted by terrorists when she returned to Pakistan and Federal Minister Bashir Bilour, who was killed in a suicide bombing.
They stated that Altaf’s followers were, therefore, not in favour of his return and requested that either Farogh Naseem or Farooq Sattar be allowed to represent their leader.
Altaf Hussain, in his telephonic address, had termed the judges’ remarks “unconstitutional” and “undemocratic” and that they amounted to contempt for the mandate given by the people of Karachi and presented an “open enmity” for the metropolitan.
The chief justice had said that the speech given by Altaf Hussain after the delimitation order was not only contemptuous but also held a note of threat.

For one thing, Musharraf should be tried. But more to the point, Altaf Bhai is not facing any threat from the present rulers or from the Establishment. As for the terrorists, he can request the Supreme Court to hear his case in Karachi where is likely to be more safe as he would enjoy a protection cordon from his security personnel. Let him face other “fictitious” charges also and clear his good name.
Every one who matters in this country has his reasons to disrespect and ridicule our courts. this supposedly untouchable has been in the habit of doing this all along. He did it on 12th May and then besieging the Sindh High Court when hearing of 12 May was fixed. Enough is enough. He spoiled two generations and slipped away conveniently. Let the law prevail.
Yousaf Raza Gillani & Raja Pervez Ashraf being the Prime Ministers at the time can come to the court but this gentleman can't. Such a shame!!

Bashir bilour was not federal minister.
that's very simple.he is Pakistani national and he should appear before the court on every ground. if he is holding a dual nationality then he has to select one then give any kind of statement. sitting in England and manipulating Pakistani politics, why not appearing in SC. while giving a reference of Benazir bhutto and balor, they had to see what kind of hard time they faced in Pakistan but not step back from their stance, they are the true leaders, live and die in Pakistan. this new act of not appearing in court is showing how much he is loyal to the people of Pakistan.

Altaf Bhai should appear in person to defend himself and refrain from giving “contemptuous and threatening” telephonic addresses in future. Qadri Bhai also has no right to threaten a democratically elected government which is about to complete it's five years in Pakistan's fragile democratic process. Lots of people criticize judiciary for XYZ reasons. What judiciary needs to do is to ensure speedy justice and prove them wrong. I would humbly advice CJ to let this matter go and look into the real issues being confronted by this unfortunate nation.
