LAHORE: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Aslam Gill has said that elections are the best way to usher in a revolution in a democratic society. Talking to APP here on Thursday, he said that some elements wanted change in the country through protests or long marches, but they forgot that Pakistan was a democratic country and its people did not want any other system. He said the “best change” could be brought through elections and it was the right of the people to elect their leaders. He said the PPP leadership including Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto sacrificed their lives for democracy. He said the PPP workers and the nation would never allow anyone to derail democracy as it was the best system to run a country. He urged all political and religious parties to play their role for the prosperity of the country and said parties should not let each other down. All parties must focus on serving the nation. He said that the politics of reconciliation was beneficial for the country and President Asif Ali Zardari had adopted this path. He said the PPP had served the nation despite having limited resources. He said the PPP-led government had provided relief to the common man in every budget. He said the PPP would win the next elections on the basis of its performance and form the next government not only in the centre but in all provinces as well.
